I was given an opportunity to conduct a microteaching session as part of my B.Ed programme, with the aim of developing specific teaching skills and receiving constructive feedback. For this session, I selected the lesson “The Saga of Tiffin Carriers” and prepared a lesson plan focusing mainly on the skill of introduction. The session was carried out with a small group of peers who acted as students, and it lasted for about 5–7 minutes.
At the beginning of the class, I attempted to create an interesting and engaging introduction to draw the learners’ attention. I made use of suitable teaching aids and simple examples to ensure clarity of the content. To promote interaction, I asked questions and encouraged participation from the learners. I also used reinforcement strategies such as appreciation and positive feedback to keep them motivated.
Initially, I felt quite nervous while handling the class, and my first attempt did not turn out as expected. I felt disappointed as it did not go well. However, I was given another opportunity the following day, which allowed me to improve my performance. I made a genuine effort to overcome my mistakes and present the lesson more effectively.
the experience was highly beneficial as it helped me gain confidence and develop an important teaching skill that will be useful in my future classroom practice.
